Previously, MCSE was made up of seven exams, with the choice to specialize with an elective subject, such as messaging or security, after completing the five core examinations. Now, the structure has changed. The MCSE exam is currently available for Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003; each having a different set of exam. To pass MCSE 2003, six core design exams must be passed, including four networking exams, one client operating system, one design exam and one elective exam.
